How It Works

Palos Park Public Library cardholders can request items from the library’s collection by placing a hold online in the library catalog, by phone at 708-448-1530, or by email to order@palosparklibrary.org.

We will notify you when your items are ready for pickup. The library currently is limiting the number of items for each patron to check out to 5. If you are unable to pick up materials, home delivery can be arranged. Items will be held for 7 days. Cancel unwanted hold items online or contact the library for assistance.

Upon arrival outside the library, pull your vehicle up to one of the designated curbside spots in the library parking lot, pop your trunk, and call 708-448-1530 or text 708-426-0070. Provide us with your name and spot #. It is a good idea to bring your library card with you as we may have to verify more information.

Library staff will bring out your materials (packaged in a paper bag) and deliver them contact-free by placing them in your trunk. If your trunk cannot be used, we will place the items into your vehicle’s passenger-side window. Please remain in your vehicle to help maintain social-distancing practices. 

If you’re on foot, call 708-448-1530 or text 708-426-0070 when you arrive at the library. Provide us with your name and let us know you are at the entrance. Please wait at the 6-foot distance marker located near the front door and a staff member will place your items (packaged in a paper bag) on a table next to the front door.

Return all library materials to our book drop. Please do not attempt to use curbside pickup to return materials, this is essential to maintain safe handling. Returned items will be quarantined for 7 days prior to being removed from your library account. No overdue fines will be charged.

Items may not be picked up at other libraries and interlibrary loan of other libraries' items is not available at this time. The library offers this service using protocols to keep patrons and staff safe. Staff have access to personal protective equipment (PPE), including disposable gloves, face masks, hand sanitizer and disinfectants for handling library items.
